Core-Backbone adds a new PoP R-KOM’s Datacenter in Regensburg
In August, we expand our network for an additional Points-of-Presence. With immediate effect, our services are available at Datacenter Ostbayern. Emotionally, the new pin on our Network-Map means something very special to us. Many of you know for sure, that Core-Backbone was founded in 2006 in Lappersdorf (District Regensburg). Several of our colleagues are natively from Regensburg and have a close relation to the city. The new site is going to be connected via a pair of Infinera Cloud Xpress 1. The equipment used enables us, to provide an initial capacity of 500 Gbps.
R-KOM is already our eighth Datacenter location in Bavaria. Regensburg is located on the northern top of the Danube and has a historic center, which was appointed world heritage by the UNESCO in 2006. In the early history „Castra Regina“ was a prospering European commercial town and political center of the Holy Roman Empire. In the younger history, the domicile of Germany’s Upper Palatinate administrative region stands out as a relevant automotive- and machine construction site. Regensburg is hotspot for tourists as well as students, who go to one of the three universities in town.
R-KOM is one of the leading datacenter operators in Eastern Bavaria providing highly secure environments for housing and connectivity of IT and network systems. The datacenter has the newest technical standards and fulfils the tightest safety criterion. This is also confirmed by the successful TUEViT certification „Trusted Site Infrastructure TSI V3.2 Level 2“. Further information about the datacenter can be found here.
