Interview with Mark

For us, growth doesn’t just mean technological advancement – it primarily means nurturing talent.
Six months ago, Mark joined Core-Backbone as an IT Specialist Trainee. Today, he looks back on an intensive and rewarding period marked by exciting tasks, true team spirit, and hands-on IT training. In this interview, he shares his experiences from the first months and talks about how he got started in the industry.💬

How did you find your first six months at Core-Backbone overall?
The first six months at Core-Backbone have been very educational and diverse for me. I was able to gain many new insights and learn interesting things about IT every day. On top of that, I felt warmly welcomed by the team from the very beginning.

Do you feel well integrated into your team and the company?
Absolutely. Shortly after starting my training, I already felt comfortable and well integrated in the company, especially within my team.

Do your duties as an IT Specialist Trainee meet the expectations you had before you started?
Since this training is my first professional experience in this field, I wasn’t entirely sure what tasks would be waiting for me at Core-Backbone. Some I could anticipate, but there were also things I didn’t expect at all (such as working with enterprise network equipment like Juniper routers and switches). Overall, my responsibilities turned out to be more diverse than I had anticipated.

How do you feel about the working atmosphere, teamwork, and corporate culture at Core-Backbone?
Personally, I think the working atmosphere at Core-Backbone is excellent. All colleagues are very friendly and open. Working in the team is especially enjoyable because the mood is relaxed and informal.

How well do you find it possible to balance vocational school with your everyday work at Core-Backbone?
The classes are organized in blocks, so there’s no constant back-and-forth. It does take some getting used to that during school the focus is more on theory and exam preparation compared to the hands-on work in the company, but it doesn’t cause me any problems. I would say it’s very compatible with my work at Core-Backbone.

What are your hopes for the coming months?
I hope that my training continues to go as well as it has so far. I want to keep learning new things, consolidate my knowledge, become more independent, and take on more responsibility.

Would you recommend training at Core-Backbone? Why?
I would especially recommend it to anyone passionate about IT. In my opinion, not only are the tasks exciting, diverse, and challenging, but the colleagues here are also very friendly.

Thank you, Mark, for your open insights into your training so far. We look forward to supporting you on your continued journey and are excited about everything yet to come.
Here’s to a continued successful and educational future together at Core-Backbone! 🚀
